2nd Grade: Let's Load the Lounge
During the school year, we will be stocking the staff lounge with treats and drinks for our treasured Fairmount faculty. Each month families of a designated grade level will be invited to participate. This month, we welcome our 2nd-grade families to sign up to bring in an item(s) to help stock the lounge. Items will be due on the Dec. 5 and collected by the main doors from 8:40 a.m.-9 a.m. Sign up here!
Thank you to our 3rd-5th-grade families who already donated treats for our staff! We appreciate your generosity!

Book Cart is back!
Please be on the lookout for books coming home with your kindergartner, first or second grader at their independent reading level. Parent volunteers run this daily program to help support your child’s reading success. Fairmount’s Book Cart Program provides our students with the extra boost in becoming proficient readers and fostering a good home/school partnership by sending books home with K-2 students nightly to improve literacy.
If you would like to help, please contact our Book Cart Program Coordinator, Beth Reichardt at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We need parent volunteers!
"No one can do everything, but everyone can do something."
Take a look at our open positions and see if any interest you. Thank you to our 2022-23 coordinators for volunteering your time and talents!

Discover the Learning Garden
Did you know the Fairmount Learning Garden is always open to the Fairmount community? The start of the school year is a great time to visit the garden. It is thriving as we near the end of our growing season. Students, families, teachers, and staff are always welcome to stop by to pick up ripe fruits and vegetables, dig in the dirt, or just sit and enjoy the beauty of the space. Please stop by and take a look.
The Learning Garden Committee meets 3-4 times in the Fall and the Spring to complete projects in the Garden, discuss plans for improvements, and brainstorm outreach to the classrooms. The committee also cares for 5 Tower Gardens that are rotated in the classrooms throughout the school year. We are always looking for new members to help keep our garden growing. If you have any interest in being a part of this committee, contact Heather Greene at email@example.com. No experience is necessary.
Finally, the Learning Garden Committee has plans for improvements in the Garden over the next year, and installing a larger brick seating area is first on our list. If you or someone you know has experience with this and can either help us complete this project ourselves or recommend a company we can hire, please let us know. We’d love to get this done before winter sets in!
